About TAWASCO

Tana Water and Sanitation Company (TAWASCO) is a Private Limited Company established under the Company’s Act Cap 486, Laws of Kenya, by ordinary share capital by Tana River Municipal Council in 1st September 2006.

With the promulgation of the new constitution 2010, the company’s shareholding was transferred to the County Government of Tana River, and thus wholly owned by Tana River County Government and operated under Coast Water Works Development Agency.

Formerly, TAWASCO was contracted by Coast Water Development Board to provide water and sanitation services within the County Government of Tana River and its environs. However, following the enactment of the Water Act 2016, this mandate has since been transferred to County Government of Tana River.
